When it came to a decision about breeding Starry, given her age and some history, we thought we'd leave it up to she and Toby. We thought of Toby because, first, he was available, second their pedigrees are very compatible. Both of them have an English parent (Magick and Lincoln) as after he fathered a litter at age 7 months (litter 8) we had him x-rayed and OFA determined he was an excellent. Now that's a prelim assessment, but how often do you get to breed two OFA Excellent!
We let the two work it out, and just when we thought Toby had reverted from being precocious to being a dufus, Kathy heard a yelp and we had a tie. There's and old adage in breeding "The nose knows."

  We have departed from our regular way of doing things and have named the litter. We usually look for a theme, and since the whole litter was "gamble" we decided to use a card or gambling theme, and what's better as a theme but the movie Maverick. Its fun, its got great characters and names - so we present the following

First Feeding

We tried feeding the pups a gruel of baby oatmeal and espalac, funny how fast they catch on to a new skill like eating - some teeth are beginning to erupt, so mom was glad to have them start to introduced to solid food.
